Axcient Appoints New VP of Operations to Drive Global Cloud Infrastructure Expansion and Reliability
Leading Cloud Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Solution Provider Nabs Former CIO of Ask.com and Head of Operations for Zynga
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. – Dec. 18, 2013 – Axcient, the leader in cloud-based Recovery-as-a-Service, today announced that it has appointed Mark Stockford as new vice president of operations to lead Axcient’s global cloud infrastructure expansion.
Mark Stockford joins Axcient as vice president of operations with the task of expanding Axcient’s cloud infrastructure globally, and driving alignment and execution across day-to-day operations at the company.
Mark joins the Axcient team bringing more than 20 years of executive operations experience in organizing, directing and controlling global teams and maintaining high-reliability, high-performance data center operations. Previously, Mark held this same position at the world’s leading provider of social game services, Zynga.
While at Zynga, Mark was responsible for the architecture, engineering and operations of Zynga’s ZCloud platform. ZCloud was Zynga’s move from Amazon.com to its own private cloud infrastructure, resulting in millions in annual savings. Mark oversaw this project in its entirety, which consisted of three data center locations, comprised of tens of thousands of nodes and had a 99.95 or better reliability after its launch, in conjunction with Zynga’s IPO.
Prior to Zynga, Mark was CIO of Ask.com where he worked to consolidate nine data centers down to two, saving the company tens of millions of dollars annually, and improving efficiencies and reliability. Prior to Ask.com, Mark spent five years at eBay, where he worked his way up from senior manager of network operations to senior director of network & data center services and opened its Colorado, Phoenix, Shanghai and Dublin locations.
“We are excited to welcome Mark to the Axcient family. Mark’s strong background in building scalable, cost-effective cloud architectures and managing them to the highest levels of reliability and performance made him stand out among all of the other candidates. His expertise will be important, especially as we continue to disrupt the market and take our business to the next level.” – Justin Moore, CEO and Founder of Axcient
