Welcome to the Axcient blog. I’ve been with Axcient since September 2009, helping shape products that comprise the Axcient data protection service.

Building products involves two-way communication so that requirements are understood and features are delivered to meet those requirements. You’re probably already utilizing several communication touch points with Axcient, including personal interactions with account reps, web casts with Q&A, the Axcient support portal, and so on. However, I invite you to think of this blog as another way to facilitate a dialog, which I hope you find both interesting and useful.

Ok, so perhaps you’re wondering why this blog entry is entitled “I’ve got a Secret.” Something I’ve observed over recent months is that users often don’t take advantage of product capabilities that might improve their overall data protection experience. Features and techniques for things like storage optimization, performance tuning, and preparation of protected devices are not always immediately obvious.

So, I’m going to share these “secrets” with you. Over the coming weeks, I’ll be updating this blog with thoughts and guidance on lesser-known product features and techniques with the aim of helping you get the most out of your Axcient deployments.

Some of the topics to be explored include optimizing space consumption on the Axcient appliance, tuning network utilization to improve backup speeds, tools for preparing Microsoft systems for successful backups, monitoring techniques, and more.

In the meantime, please share your comments and ideas. After all, it’s your feedback that shapes our products and services.
