Midsize Enterprise Summit (MES) 2016 took place in Austin, TX earlier this month. Hosted by The Channel Company and Gartner, MES 2016 brings together IT executives from various companies to discuss their strategic initiatives, challenges, and learnings for 2016 and 2017. During the opening session, Gartner Research Director, Mike Cisek, highlighted the five trends that are driving change in the midmarket for IT leaders. Those five trends include:
1. Adoption of Emerging Data Center Solutions
2. Strategic and Tactical Use of Cloud Infrastructure (IaaS) and Application Services (SaaS)
3. Improve Security Prevention, Detection and Response
4. Analytics to Improve Business and IT Operations
5. Enablement of the Digital Workplace
It’s no surprise that the five trends all involve new ways that IT leaders can more easily and cost-effectively deliver and ensure availability for their services. Midmarket IT executives are constantly faced with the difficult task of delivering enterprise-grade services and availability without the same level of resources as an enterprise typically have. Based on Gartner’s polling of the attendees, 24% of IT executives reported that staffing was their biggest challenge with IT. Security and budgets came in second and third place at 22% and 14% respectively.
With the rise in ransomware and cyber attacks, it comes as no surprise that security and DR topped the list of infrastructure initiatives among attendees. The recent Yahoo! breach further highlights the need for companies to fortify their architectures against cyber attacks.
At the show, we were able to highlight our new solution, Fusion, which provides businesses of all sizes with an on-demand, unified solution for complete IT resilience. Fusion not only eliminates the needs for businesses to invest in secondary and tertiary data centers (and all the exorbitant operations and maintenance costs associated with them), but also provides IT leaders with a cost-effective hybrid cloud approach to delivering IT. The reaction from the audience was overwhelming — in fact, we actually were presented with an award for the Best Boardroom Case Study Presentation!
We’re really thankful to have been able to share this solution we’ve been working on with midmarket IT executives and are excited to see how we can help these leaders drastically increase the resilience and agility of their IT at a fraction of the cost of legacy solutions.
